Malmahed<\/b>, the drill-ground full of tradition, is surrounded by historic drill buildings and other buildings from the town’s military period. The town hall on the square in Malmk\u00f6ping is a beautiful landmark building from that period.<\/p>\n

The Swedish National Encyclopaedia says:<\/h3>\n

\"Malmk\u00f6pings“Malmk\u00f6ping, urban area in Flen municipality, S\u00f6dermanland (S\u00f6dermanland County), 14 km NE of Flen; pop. 2,170 (1996). Industry in Malmk\u00f6ping is dominated by small business; the largest company is Uplandsklubben i Sverige AB (confections). The town has a number of museums, including a tramway museum. Malma hed (heath) is also in Malmk\u00f6ping.<\/p>\n

– The town name (1804 Malmk\u00f6ping) includes “k\u00f6ping,” \u2018trading place\u2019. The prefix reminds us that the town was built at Malma village and Malma heath in Malma parish.<\/p>\n

Malmk\u00f6ping was founded as a free trading place in 1784 adjacent to Malma heath, a meeting place for the S\u00f6dermanland regiment. In 1863, Malmk\u00f6ping was reorganised as a separate ‘trading place’ municipality with barely 400 inhabitants. Malmk\u00f6ping has had a relatively diverse industry and a slow pace of growth.“<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
